Tried some priming techniques
Today I tried spraying the Sherwin William P60 G2 Wash Primer that I purchased. I experimented with brushing it on as well. Turns out i’m allergic to it when I spray it. This isn’t the first primer i’ve been allergic to. When building my first plan I used Dupont’s Variprime and it made me itch every time I came in contact with it. Doesn’t seem like I have an allergic reaction once it dries, so I’m gonna stick with brushing and rolling it on for now. The finish comes out OK, but it’s for internal parts and corrosion protection, so I guess it really doesn’t matter.
Hung some hardware organizers
Next I hung some hardware organizers. I’ve committed to myself that I’m going to be more organized with my hardware this time. On my last build, I left all the hardware bags in a big box and I just dug the hardware out of bags as I needed it. It was the lazy way to do it because I was in a rush to build. Turned out I probably spent more time looking for hardware while digging through bags then it would have been had I just organized it when I received the kit. I also ordered a lot of extra hardware because I thought I’d run out of things, only to find out later that I had the hardware, I just overlooked it when digging through the bags.
Cleaned up some tools
The last task of the night was to dig out my old bucking bars and back riveting plate and sandblast the rust of them. They’ve been sitting collecting rust since 2009, and they spent several years in a non-climate controlled hangar in South Florida. A bit of sand blasting and they were shining and new, unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of them!
